Overview of 2016 Honda CR-V

Some of the highlights for the Honda CRV 2016 model year are its exceptional fuel economy compared to other similar crossovers, the abundance of adult-sized room in both seating rows, the increased cargo capacity compared to most rivals, and rear seatbacks that fold flat at the tug of a lever and lastly, an appealing roster of tech and safety features. New for 2016 is that a new Special Edition trim debuts, the SE, which adds rear privacy glass, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a security system to the base LX. Besides these changes, the 2016 CR-V is unchanged. A shame for the 2016 year model is the lack of an engine upgrade and that the touchscreen interface can be unintuitive lacking separate volume and tuning knobs. In the cabin, some materials look and feel cheaper. Everyday usability is the driving force behind the CR-V's interior design. The wide doors allow for easy access, head and legroom are ample for front and rear passengers. Passengers sitting in the rear middle seat will also appreciate the lack of a protruding transmission tunnel that would otherwise force an uncomfortable seating position. The CR-V's cargo area is ample, with 37.2 cubic feet of space ready to swallow just about anything you want throw back there. Simply pull the trunk-mounted levers and the spring-loaded rear seats fold down immediately, nearly doubling the CR-V's cargo capacity. Honda also offers a long list of available safety and comfort features for buyers that wanting a little extra. Keyless ignition and entry, a sunroof, and heated front seats are standard equipment about halfway up the CR-V's trim levels. Also EX trim, is a passenger-side-mounted camera that reduces the blind spot by displaying a wide-angle picture on the central touchscreen when the right blinker is turned on. If you are looking for additional safety features consider the top trim CR-V Touring, as it adds lane-keeping assist and automatic braking with forward collision warning. The 2016 Honda CR-V’s competitors are the popular Toyota RAV4, the Ford Escape and the Mazda CX-5. As well as the Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, Subaru Forester and Jeep Cherokee all offer more powerful optional engines. But when you factor in the stuff that most people desire most — practicality, good gas mileage, interior space and safety — the 2016 CR-V is very difficult to beat.
