2016 BMW X1 For Sale

Overview of 2016 BMW X1

The X1 SUV is BMW’s entry level crossover, the automaker's smallest and most affordable utility vehicle. The previous-generation was great fun to drive but fell short on passenger space as it felt tight and impractical for family use. After being redesigned for 2016, the BMW X1 is taller and wider and much roomier on the inside which is the main reason to put this small luxury crossover back on your shopping list, among the other upgrades it received. BMW purists will claim that the X1 is no longer based on the rear-wheel-drive 3 Series and now shares its FWD platform architecture with the Mini Cooper family, but for the majority of shoppers interested in an entry-level luxury crossover, this change is not a significant downside. Minis are known for their nimble handling, so really there I no real losses in raiding the corporate parts bin. In terms of power, the standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine, downs on power compared to last year's four-cylinder X1, but should still deliver acceleration and fuel mileage that is as good as or better than any of other crossover's four-cylinder vehicles in this segment. In addition, AWD is also standard, which makes every 2016 X1 suitable for winter-weather driving. Inside the 2016 BMW X1 cabin: head-, shoulder and legroom have all increased, especially in the backseat. Cargo capacity also benefited form the redesign as it now sits near the top of the class, although anyone in need of serious cubic footage would be better off with a larger crossover like the X3. Cabin materials have also received and upgrade to nicer than before. Front seat occupants get standard power-adjustable seats. There are a few new technology features, as well, including a hands-free power liftgate, an available head-up display and a frontal collision mitigation system with pedestrian detection. As the growing class of small luxury crossover SUVs becomes larger and larger, the BMW X1 is easily one of the most appealing options for 2016. Interior accommodations in similar quality in competitors like the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA250 but unlike in the X1, adults will have trouble getting comfortable in their snug backseats. Also, both crossovers are quite a bit slower than the X1. As its predecessor was narrowly focused on delivering a sporty driving experience, this new X1 is far more practical and worth considering if you want a useful luxury crossover with a small footprint.
